About Royal Scholars Foundation
What is Royal Scholars Foundation?
Royal Scholars Foundation is a trustee-led non-profit dedicated to providing comprehensive international educational scholarship support to brilliant, low-income Nigerian secondary school leavers. We bridge the gap between their potential and global opportunities.
What problem are you solving?
Many exceptional students from low-income families in Nigeria are unable to seize fully funded international university scholarships because they cannot afford the mandatory upfront administrative costs like passport applications, university application fees, and visa processing fees. We cover these critical financial barriers.
Where are you based?
Our operations are focused on identifying and supporting Nigerian students, primarily operating remotely and through our network of local partners. We assist scholars in applying to institutions in Europe and North America.
Scholarship Eligibility & Application
Who is eligible for Royal Scholars support?
Eligibility is primarily based on exceptional academic performance (e.g., top WAEC/NECO results) and demonstrated financial need. The target group is secondary school leavers who have the potential to secure full international scholarships but lack the funds for initial processing fees.
How do I apply for support?
You can find the application portal on our dedicated "Apply for Support" page. The application requires detailed academic records and proof of financial status. We announce application windows periodically, so please check the page regularly for updates.
What documents are required to apply?
Typically, we require your WAEC/NECO results, transcripts from your secondary school, birth certificate, and letters of recommendation.
Support Details & Finances
What costs do you cover?
We provide full financial and logistical coverage for all pre-departure costs necessary to secure a scholarship and visa. This includes: university application fees, passport application fees, visa processing fees, test fees (e.g., TOEFL/SAT/GRE if necessary), and transport for biometrics/interviews.
Do you provide the actual university scholarship (tuition/stipend)?
No. Our core focus is removing the barriers to entry. We provide the support required for students to successfully apply for and secure external fully-funded scholarships (covering tuition, accommodation, and stipend) from partner universities and global organizations. We ensure the student is ready to receive and process the scholarship.
How is the money handled?
Funds are generally not given directly to the student. We handle the direct payment of fees (e.g., bank transfer for passport fees, online payment for university applications) to the relevant official bodies to ensure transparency and proper usage.
Partnerships & Opportunities
How can my company or school partner with Royal Scholars Foundation?
We welcome partnerships! Corporations can offer mentorship, fund entire cohorts, or provide in-kind donations. Schools and educational institutions can collaborate on student identification, curriculum development, or fee waivers. Please reach out to info@royalscholarsfoundation.org with the subject line "Partnership Inquiry."
Are there opportunities to volunteer or mentor students?
Yes, mentorship is a crucial part of our program. We look for professionals and academics to guide scholars through the application process, interview preparation, and transitioning to international study. Visit the "Our People" section or contact us for current volunteer needs.
Do you work with international universities directly?
We work with international universities by guiding our scholars to institutions known for offering substantial financial aid and full scholarships. While we aim to build formal relationships, our primary focus is preparing the student to be the most competitive applicant for any available global opportunity.
Donations & Support
How can I support the Royal Scholars Foundation?
You can support us financially through our dedicated Support a Scholar campaign, which often focuses on specific, urgent needs like our Passport Funding Drive. We also welcome non-monetary support, such as volunteering your time for mentorship or application review.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
As a Trustee-led organization, we operate on a non-profit basis. Please consult with your local tax professional for advice on whether your specific donation qualifies for a tax deduction in your region.
Where does my money go?
Your donation goes directly to covering the upfront costs for our scholars: passport fees, visa fees, application fees, transportation, and document preparation costs. We maintain strict financial transparency to ensure every Naira and dollar directly helps a student reach their goal.
